Are You Accidentally Sabotaging Your Diet plan?

We all realize that one of the best foods for our diet plans are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats. These ingredients fill us with protein and also energy. They keep our bodies nutritionally well balanced with minimal calories while we work hard to burn off our fat at the gym. Are you aware, however, that a number of the foods you've been thinking are very good for your diet program could actually be making you retain weight? They could even be making you gain more weight! Check out a number of the ingredients that might be allowing you to accidentally sabotage your diet.

Sports Drinks usually do not truly help you. You've likely been thinking that the sports drink is the easiest way to help your system feel greater after a workout. Most medical doctors recognize, however, that if your exercise session is shorter than ninety minutes, drinking water should be fine. Sports drinks are full of sugar and calories and a massive amount of other things you don?t need including artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Try having some chocolate milk instead. The sugar inside the chocolate will help your muscles start to mend and the calcium in milk keeps your bones strong.

You do not need protein shakes. So many people believe that consuming a protein shake is a good way to halt cravings when it isn't meal time. The real truth is that if you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake really does is clog your system with protein. No matter what other people imagine, protein is not stashed in the muscles, it is stored in your body as fat. This means that if you have already consumed too much protein that day, your whole body will basically store what it doesn't need in your fat cells and that doesn't help you lose weight or inches of your waist line at all.

Pre-packaged deli meat isn't nearly as good for you as you might think it is. You may possibly believe that a sandwich made from whole wheat bread and pre-packaged lean deli meat makes for a good lunch. Actually, pre-packaged deli meat has far too many preservatives and sodium (one serving contains about a third of the amount of sodium you should eat in a day). This is often especially dangerous if you are at risk for heart disease. Instead of purchasing the pre-packaged material, you should instead use home cooked poultry or freshly sliced meat from your grocery store's deli counter. Sure these selections are more high priced but they are much healthier for you in the long run.

There are plenty of things that we believe are much healthier than others like choosing a whole wheat bagel each morning when the truth is that a bowl of cinnamon sprinkled oatmeal is a much healthier choice. Ask your physician which things are the best to eat and then follow the directions you are given. If you understand and are careful about which kind of food you let yourself eat, losing weight isn't going to be a terribly big deal.
