Plans, organizes and controls an assigned product line from conceptual stages through product life cycles to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives by performing the following duties:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following as they pertain to assigned products.Product Management1.Conducts marketing analysis, review market opportunities and threats.2.Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop and provide products responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.3.Develops and maintains a prioritized list of customer and market requirements for product.4.Provides financial and technical justification for product development.5.Conducts market research and identifies and tracks market trends. Identifies partnering opportunities for complementary third-party products to broaden company's product line.6.Regularly perform cost, pricing and competitive analysis by customer channel and recommend strategies to improve market position, quality and/or profitability.7.Develop and maintain product database with product specifications, artwork and catalog copy for dealer co-op advertising and catalog programs.Planning1.Coordinates and develops marketing, sales, engineering, and financial plans for product line.2.Assist in development of annual marketing plan.3.Estimate potential profits and costs, forecast annual sales & analyze profitability for all projects.4.Optimize gross margin dollars and percents.5.Produce, maintain and update annual forecast.Operations Support1.Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to develop, source, and provide clear expectations/definitions regarding new product design, function & packaging to ensure responsiveness to customer needs and market opportunities.2.Monitor and suggest ways to clean up product lines by recommending new items as well as items to obsolete.3.Work with Customer Service to make sure they are up to speed on all new promotions, literature and mailings and product knowledge.Literature and Sales Support1.Aid in creation and manage quarterly promotions.2.Aid in creation and manage direct mail campaigns to customers.3.Develop training and marketing tools.4.Work with customers as needed.5.Assist in sales meetings.6.Develops comparisons, competitive cross reference and product interchanges for distribution to the field and website.7.Serve as liaison to outside sales force; make sure they are aware of products and promotions. Communicate all necessary/pertinent information to them. Product Development1.Coordinates technical product development, estimates cost and potential profits, forecast annual sales and release to production.2.Research and analyze new product opportunities within designated product lines.3.Coordinates competitive testing with Engineering and manage information/results for disbursement.4.Participates in overall product strategy, research and development requirements, development, and manufacturing coordination for new and emerging products.5.Provides technical expertise and training to other departments in support of product development.6.Collaborates on all aspects of product development, product changes and product promotions including development procedures, specifying components, packaging and header design, product positioning, pricing, catalog and sell sheet copy, training aides and point of purchase merchandisers.7.Prepares product development objectives and schedules for all phases of product development and introduction to market.Marketing Support1.Work with outside marketing services and providers to ensure timely completion of projects.2.Work with PR agent to ensure releases are sent out in a timely manner. Provide new ideas to PR agent so they have a direction on what to promote. Proof all releases.3.Coordinate outside marketing efforts (i.e. Hot Packs & NAPA promos). Work with vendors to ensure promotions are executed properly. Check artwork for accuracy.4.Design/update literature.5.Manage printed and online catalog content.Other1.Travel as needed for customer and supplier visits, training, tradeshows, etc.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:BS or BA in business related fieldPreferred experience 3+ years in Marketing in manufacturing industry.OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:Passion to learn and understand market segment, competitors and customer needs. Understand the relationship between the selling function and the total marketing plan.Capable of taking the initiative in assuming responsibility, and of exercising sound marketing judgment.Strategic and CreativeAbility to meet deadlines, so a flexible schedule is required.
