It is still 100% within your contract to sell your house privately, even if your estate agent has made you sign a sole agency agreement as this doesn't stop you promoting your own home. Often an estate agent will have you sign a sole selling rights agreement which entitles them to commission no matter how your house is sold, watch out for these.
Private house sales have seen a monumental rise in the last couple of years and the reason for their popularity is obvious, they offer many advantages, whilst costing you less and potentially working quicker to produce fast house sales, it's a no brainer really.
