1 Be aware that the same chambermaid can not be cleaning your area every day.

3 Give the money to the maid personally, as some safer different, or palm the envelope to the table clerk and write "chambermaid" on it.

4 Tip any maid $3 per night in exclusive upscale hostel, $1 per night in other hotels. If you stay with a week, a bit much more (maybe $5 to $7 any night) is appropriate.

5 Reward extra service, similar seeing that bringing added soap or towels, with one suitable tip.

Leaving the suggestion daily is a good gesture. Learning to write "chambermaid" in Italian, French, Spanish, German, etc., might be thoughtful when traveling internationally. The term "tip," which originated in England, was originally an acronym with the phrase "to insure promptness." If you're not satisfied by the task the maid does, don't tip him/her or suggestion reduced for lesser service.

namrevlis Feb 27, 2010 Wrong, wrong, wrong! Your advice regarding tipping a girl remains worthless. I know you mean well; yet, unfortunately, in close to all hotels senior staff go into the checked-out rooms before the housekeeper (girl) comes to work and considers the tip. I mean all regarding it and all the moment. The only way to depart a tip to the husekeeper is to place the cash on her hand. Inside all other cases she will never get a cent.

bigtip Aug 07, 2007 Am I the only seeing something seroiusly wrong here? The way in which did tipping go from "tip whilst support remains done extra well" to "suggestion or you won't get any service"? I'm around tipping. No extra tip from me. Improve your values if you will, though don't expect me to be any mind reader and keep in mind all the numerous tipping etiquettes.

Sep 20, 2006 As a housekeeper in a hostel, I know that we had several people who would stay for a week or hence at our hotel plus they never tipped. This frustrates us because there yous a lot that we achieve to hold the room the way it is. So tips are always welcomed--even if they are merely the free change inside your pockets.

Furthermore, don't tip whenever you arrive. Sleep first, consequently tip. And if you are remaining one extended stay, chances are in regard to 99% that you wont get the same girl as you did the first daytime. Very make guaranteed your suggestion goes next to their housekeeping card (if there is one). And make sure it is conspicuous.

In my hotel, we are not allowed to feel any money unless it is either on best of the pillow or on top of the housekeeping card. If you are staying and extended stay and like your housekeeper, you may well be able to go to the Front Workplace plus request that housekeeper perform the housekeeping duties with the duration of your stay. Although this may work, be advised that there are certain days when housemaids don't work so as to prevent overtime. Extremely it might never work with all cases--but it's valued at some attempt!

Also eventually--if you have a apartment with a jacuzzi, whirlpool, or some additional sort of large, aquatic leisure gadget in it, be absolutely to tip accordingly. If you employ it, maids spend a great deal about time disinfecting and cleaning it. Then take that is into mind when you tip.

Feb 22, 2006 We leave a few bucks (sometimes more) for housekeeping, everyday, with a 'thank you' note. Within quite a few hotels, the personnel changes throughout the week plus tipping everyday ensures that the day's housekeeping attendant gets the tip for his or her perform. If we contain extra trash (water bottles, papers) we tend to leave even a lot more. Our experience by tipping remains that it is greatly appreciated. Our room is cleaned properly also sometimes extra conveniences (shampoo plus similar) are left for our pleasure. Although most attendants do not leave a note, on some few occasions we've received kind responses on the hotel observe pad which yous a lovely shock upon returning to the room. Having been in the service industry myself (food industry) I'm any good believer in always tipping, especially from conditions where minimum wage is the order of the daytime.

Nov 22, 2005 $1 per daytime, per bed, on your pillow or with a note anywhere else with the room. Most hotels have some policy that maids are not allowed to touch any cash unless it remains on the pillow or there is a observe. There are certain instances everywhere you should leave some tiny extra tip. Such as if you request further services extra towels, sheets changed (not all hotels change your sheets if you are staying over). It is accurate that if you tip generously you get hold of much better service. The hostel I function at does never change the sheets on stay overs, only whilst the guests check out. But when we buy a generous suggestion, we adjust sheets, depart extra towels, and make available added if we see you. Sadly, 9 out of 10 guests don't tip at all. I disagree with the no tipping on check from. Verify froms take a long time to carry out. We have to clean out of top to bottom.
