Y'all need to understand that we are not and emotional person in terms of books. No, I promise I'm not heartless, I recently don't cry easily. Yes, during books my pulse rate accelerates and I'll feel bad for the characters, however i don't actually cry. That is one of several only books where We've come this close to tears. And thats saying something.

But before I get into all of the emotional point about this book, I have to first mention the characters.

Katniss is fantastic. She's incredibly strong and fierce. Now, that's my favorite kind of heroine i are aware that sometimes these start to blend together but something I love about her is always that although she might be these things like so many other heroines in existence, she's accomplishment lovable and witty like most others. She's standoffish along with a loner and it also uses a very long time for an individual to get by way of her. She's mature beyond her years because this lady has to get. She had become the sole supporter of her family at a real early age also it hardened her. She's a survivor. But sometimes this hard exterior became her downfall because she couldn't always see what's at the front of her: the reality that people care about her. However, although its difficult to get past her hardened exterior, after you do, jane is an incredibly kind and admirable person. Almost all of the shown through her actions with the reaping. She cared a lot for my child family that they was able to risk her life, understanding that her chances for returning were slim, simply to keep her sister safe. If it is really not worthy of respect, i then are not aware of what is.

Peeta is also a great character. He's essentially the full the complete opposite of Katniss. He's personable, caring, and charming. He truly really cares about Katniss even when she can't notice herself. Even when you don't end up being to recognise to much about him because from Katniss' perspective, you can still notice that he's admirable qualities too. Normally I like the alpha male and the bad-boy (I suppose its kinda my weakness) on the other hand do also enticed by the sweet, respectful guys i fell head-over-heels for his heart.

For secondary characters? Amazing. Each was unique in their own personal way. Effie, sweetly oblivious Effie. Haymitch, who may drink somewhat to much, but has a heart under that surly exterior. Cinna, who truly cares about Katniss though he hardly knows her. Perhaps the other tributes each had his or her personalities that built them into unique (Don't even get me began Rue!).

This book only agreed to be so incredibly emotional. 24 kids enter an arena and just 1 is released. I honestly can't even imagine when i was in their situation. I understand that I would do whatever it loved survive, so how would that change me? Each tribute was only trying to survive. They didn't desire to be there (well, except some), but were made to be. If your facing your immediate death, how would you react? Survival changes people. These different reactions thus to their situations were shown remarkably well through the various tributes. Collins' does an incredible jobs of showing how each person would fare in cases like this. While each of the bloodshed in the arena is disturbing, possibly the most disturbing thing to me was the reality that the folks in the Capitol enjoyed it. Children were dying and them it turned out just entertainment. They were completely oblivious!! It absolutely was all just a game for many years. Providing these folks were entertained, these people were happy. It was sick. Completely and utterly sick.

Also to will, I felt awful for the other tributes, at the same time they attempted to kill Katniss and Peeta. How may you not? These folks were thrown in to a situation many of them weren't prepared for and simply trying to get home. Whilst they were her enemies, I felt pity and guilt right in addition to Katniss. She, too, understands that they were only doing the things they had to just do like she was.

The Hunger Games could be a dark book about death and destruction, but within its dark exterior is really a beautiful story stuffed with survival, hope and fighting for the purpose you love.
