Sometimes you will find thousands of shells of many sundry types. If you come to the beach fresh in the morning you will see tracks where sea turtles have come up onto the beach to place their eggs. The beaches here are terrific for swimming and when the waves are right, surfing. People also come to this beach to surf cast for pompano and other species.
Vero Beach, Florida has much to offer There are great places to shop, nice restaurants and the natural beauty of the Atlantic and the Intercoastal waterway. RecreationalOutdoor opportunities are numerous. if you're into golfing there are a lot of opportunities here. Horseback riding is another thing that you can do not too far away. You could go deep-sea fishing or fish from the shore. If you know how to surf people do that here. You can also use a boogie board or just walk the beach.
You could have heard of some of Florida's more popular beaches but the desirable beaches in Florida aren't necessarily the most popular. If you haven't already made reservations on the Gulf side of Florida then be sure and check out the Vero Beach area before doing so. The Gulf region has a bathtub five or six months out of the year while we in Vero Beach have a nice ocean that is more comfortable to swim in. Daytona Clearwater and Panama City are three of the beaches that come to mind when people think of the best beaches for Florida. Many of the Gulf of Mexico beaches are thought of as the best. The Treasure Coast is quieter and less crowded than the Gulf side of the state.
The Treasure Coast is the area south of Melbourne but north of the crowds of West Palm Beach and South Florida. This is a less crowded area set between the two. The Sebastian Inlet to the north and the Fort Pierce Inlet to the south are the boundaries for the Treasure Coast area and this is much less crowded. The water here can be a beautiful blue at times. The water in Melbourne and north can be muddy or sandy more often than not. Even 100 miles north you don't get that tropical water color which can happen here.
We are situated next to South Beach Park which is a city park for access to the beach. The park is split by tropical growth. There are barbecue grills, picnic tables, public restrooms and grassy areas near the parking. The beaches are on the other side of the tropical growth and you use one of the three boardwalks to get there. The beach here is the widest sand beach in the area. Between the tropical growth and the water there is usually at least 60 yards of sand. At high tide the 2 northern parks have very little sandy beach. While not a great beach for high tide sunbathing it has a very nice shopping area.
The old downtown has been nicely restored and turned into an upscale shopping area. This area has many shops. The stores include a wonderful kitchen shop, homemade candy shop, several fantastic clothing stores a unique mens shop, some really nice jewelry stores and many others. The barrier island also has some of the best restaurants in the area. Being one of the better areas to shop does not mean it is the only one. There are lots of choices here.See Best Florida Beaches Here. There is also the Miracle Mile which is just over the bridge on the mainland just off of Route 60. If you want an indoor mall all you have to do is go west on Route 60 as you do so you will also pass many of the big box stores.
