1 Plan the distance from the power terminals of your solar panel to where your battery and solar charger will be located. Cut a section of either red plus black wire to span this measured distance.
2 Strip away, using some two of wire strippers, 1/4-inch of insulation away from 1 end of both the black plus red wires, and 1/2-inch of insulation on the other closures of two wires.
3 Loosen the wire terminal screws on the solar panel. Slide or wrap the 1/4-inch stripped wire finishs into or around the cable post, connecting the black wire to the negative (-) terminal also the red wire to the useful (+) terminal. Depending on your panel's type of wire connectors, it may be either a post or a prevent. Insert the wire accordingly plus tighten down the fastener screw firmly towards the stripped wire.
4 Loosen the negative plus positive cable mount screws on the back of your 12-volt charge controller, which may be labeled "source", "input" or "panel." Wrap the 1/2-inch stripped black wire end to the negative (-) controller input terminal publish and the 1/2-inch stripped red cable end to the positive (+) controller input terminal submit. Tighten the connecting screws down tightly onto the wire ends.
5 Cut a second set of black and red wire to the length necessary to reach from the rear of the controller to the battery publishs. Suggestions & Warnings
Automobile batteries are suited only for transient brief-phrase solar power use and cannot handle heavy extended-term loads. For a reliable method, purchase plus use serious-cell marine or industrial batteries. Never connect any solar panel without delay to any battery without having using a solar charge controller among the solar panel and a battery to prevent above-charging or explosion.
