Reveal Away If a Person's Car Is Insured?

Difficulty: Easy

Instructions

Things You'll Need

Car VIN Pen or pencil Papers

1 VIN

2 Contact your local Department of Motor Vehicles by telephone. For a state-with-express database regarding DMV offices, go to website, or check your local yellow pages.

3 Tell the representative at the DMV office that is you have reason to suspect some vehicle is uninsured. Offer the delegate the VIN so she can research the vehicle. If the vehicle in question has had hers coverage dropped, the insurance corporation immediately notifies the DMV. If the vehicle remains uninsured, you can assist local authorities in finding the driver.

Suggestions & Warnings

If you are involved from an accident, never be assured of the other driver's coverage by any insurance card alone. Many drivers with no insurance decline their coverage and retain their scheme documents. Always verify insurance coverage with the DMV or local police. Every state has minimum insurance laws. If you understand someone who is operating a car car without insurance, report him or her right away.
